Free Motion Quilting on Wool - A New Class Sample

Free Motion Quilting Fancy Feathers on wool
Quilting Unusual Fabric (wool) and Building Fancy Feathers

This recent finish was created as a dual sample for my classes Quilting Unusual Fabrics and Building Fancy Feathers.

It is free motion quilted on Marino Wool.

Threads are both from WonderFil Specialty Threads, Accent for the feather and FabuLux for the background quilting.

Batting is two layers of Hobbs Tuscany Wool on top of one layer of bonded cotton.

Quilting Unusual Fabrics

Did you know that you can use more than cotton for quilting?

Wool, Linen, Knits, Denim, Satin and Vinyl are just a few of the specialty fabrics I love to quilt.

Each of these fabrics behaves quite differently.

Some can be used to make make beautiful quilts while others can be used for items such as handbags, clothing and home décor.

This series of virtual sessions will address fabric stabilization, needle, thread and batting choices for successfully quilting these unusual fabrics.

Next session starts June 5, 2021

Building Fancy Feathers

Feather Quilting has a timeless beauty that perfectly suits both the most Classic or Modern quilt and everything in between.

In this virtual class we will go beyond the basic feather as students learn how to design and stitch fancy building feathers that will add the wow factor to any quilt.
