In this Workshop you will learn how to set up your machine for successful Free Motion Quilting, the importance of the correct needle/thread/design combination, correct body and hand positioning, when and how to adjust your sewing machine tension, how to correct common issues such as skipped stitches, eyelashing and shredding or breaking thread.
Students will stitch a series of beautiful Free Motion Quilting designs selected to encourage the development of smooth hand movement and fingertip control.
This Workshop includes individual help with machine setup prior to class and unlimited email follow up.

Each student will then present their quilt for discussion and advice prior to beginning the quilting process with live instruction from the comfort of your own sewing room.

Introduction to Thread Painting
Thread painting is a Free Motion Quilting technique’ that uses layers of thread to create the appearance of brush strokes, shadows depth and texture.
In this beginners workshop students will learn how to turn a photograph into a line drawing, how to use a line drawing to create a fusible appliqué as a base for thread painting, how to use their machines straight and zig zag stitches to produce a variety of thread painting effects and much, much more.
All skill levels welcome.

Did you know that you can use more than cotton for quilting?
Linen, Wool, Knits, Denim, Satin and Vinyl are just a few of the specialty fabrics I love to quilt.
Each of these fabrics behaves quite differently.
Some make beautiful quilts while others can be used for items such as handbags, clothing and home décor.
In this series of virtual classes we will address fabric stabilization, needle, thread, quilting design and batting choices for successfully quilting (free motion or walking foot) these unusual fabrics.
Students will work on small samples of each fabric in the comfort of their own home.
Class registration includes;
Six one hour live power point presentations with question and answer period.
All information covered in note form for future reference.
Personal advice and assistance for the duration of the class.
Available as:
Six weekly one hour sessions.
Students stitch a small sample each week of the highlighted fabric.

This more intense class will allow 15 minute breaks in between fabric types with the Show and Share being reserved for the end of Day Two.

In this one hour introductory session we’ll explore the exciting world of Free Motion Quilting and what you can do with it.

Participants will be able to log on (Zoom platform) 15 minutes prior to the start of the session to check their connections and to introduce themselves.
Session will be followed by a short question and answer period.
