Guild Betweens

All Between classes are available in person or via Zoom and may be tailored to your individual Guild or groups needs.

Please contact me at juliesquiltclass@gmail.com for further information and to book your dates.

A Between is a term used for a mini class that takes place between the afternoon and evening guild meeting.
These classes are usually hands on and 1 to 2 hours in duration but may also be presented as a Zoom PowerPoint if preferred.

Perfect Balanced Tension

An exploration of what Free Motion Quilters are looking for in terms of stitch quality and balanced tension.
We’ll take the fear out of free motion tension adjustment as we adjust the thread tension dial to stitch out samples of both “poor tension” as well as correct balanced tension.

Introduction to Free Motion Quilting on a Drawn Line

Quilting a design that is drawn on to our fabric is quite different from quilting a design that is in our memory.
Come and learn the tricks to make quilting on a drawn line fun and easy.

Coloring on Cloth - Mini

Students will transfer to fabric and color a small design while learning to use a variety of types and brands of colored pencils and textile mediums.
A great introduction to coloring on quilts.

Timeless Traditional Quilt Blocks

Churn Dash, Log Cabin, Ohio Star, Bear Paw, Double X and    Lady of the Lake are just a few of the hundreds of traditional quilt blocks that have been passed down through the generations.
These blocks can be used individually or in combination to create an infinite number of quilted projects.
Stay with the traditional look or change up the color placement and scale of the block for a modern look.

Each Between will explore one of these timeless traditional quilt blocks from cutting to completion.

Perfect Your ¼” Seam Allowance

If you’ve ever experienced blocks that seem to magically shrink or grow then this little class is for you.
Cutting, pressing and sewing techniques all play a role in achieving a perfect ¼” seam allowance so that you too can achieve the correct size blocks or segments every time!

Stack, Cut, Sew and Go

Stack some fat ¼’s or squares of your favorite fabrics, cut them into pieces, mix them up, sew them together and trim.
What do you get?
Fabulous fast and fun quilt blocks, pillows, placemats and more!
Go modern with solid fabrics or add simple sashing strips for a stained glass effect.
So many possibilities!

Reversible Quilt As You Go

Log Cabin Placemat

Students will make a double sided log cabin placemat that is quilted during the construction. Perfect for meals on wheels and gift giving. Techniques learned in this class can also be used to make table runners or quilt blocks.
