Kathleen D. said, "I liked actually watching you stitch out the design. I have trouble with where to go next, so it's good to watch the repetition. Thank you."

Kathleen W. said, "Great idea. Love that it can be so Freeform & look intentional."

Karen J. said, "Thank you Julie for the presentation of Free Form Fantasy Ferns!!! I am horrible at doing feathers. I've tried REPEATEDLY and just can't get them right. I did your ferns and I LOVE them! I even ordered some polyester thread to try! I'm coming out of my comfort zone and feel pretty confident! Thank you!"

Welcome Fall

A variety of pumpkin and squash on and around a blue wooden chair

Sunny days, crisp clear nights, a bountiful harvest, a cozy fire, the sound and smell of rain, pumpkin spice everything, pumpkin quilts, Halloween, fresh corn on the cob, learning something new, fall leaves, brilliant colors, hockey season, the sound of geese migrating, sunflowers blooming, time spent with family, teaching new classes…Happy Fall!

Two orange and one white pumpkin with a sunflower

We've been blessed with a huge harvest of squash and pumpkins this Fall, with the garden producing everything from blue and orange Cinderella pumpkins to Golden Hubbard Squash, one of my favorites, and even the tiniest, ornamental mini pumpkins.

White and orange mini pumpkins, candles and an ornamental bird

Believe it or not, we didn't even plant any squash this year. They all just grew naturally as a result of mulching the seed scrapings from pumpkins and squash we've purchased over the last two or three years. The harvest was super fun because we didn't know what types of squash we were growing until they actually matured.

A squash garden with a cedar fence

The pumpkin/squash patch was huge and healthy.
It even went as far as to grow up into the neighbor's tree!

A blue ceramic pot of gold chrysanthemum

Fall flowers are equally gorgeous.
There's color inspiration for my next quilt everywhere I look!
